The Quarry, in La Quinta, California, offers golf members, residents, as well as guests one of the finest living experiences in the area with security and secluded relaxation. This community featured 57 residences as of 2011, and almost 100 estate lots were being planned for future building. In 2003, The Quarry Ranch was developed and features three villa designs.
The Quarry is naturally protected by the Santa Rosa Mountains around it and if that’s not enough for comfort there are security beams as well as 24-hour camera surveillance. And two guards constantly patrol the property and gate. This club does not require homeownership to join and guests who want to stay awhile can rent a furnished cottage with great room and kitchen, master suite, guest rooms, and private front patio.
This community was developed by Henry Burdick and William Burdick who envisioned an uncrowded golf facility. They brought in 13 founding associates along with Tom Fazio who designed the 18-hole championship golf course as well as a 10-hole short course. Golfers enjoy the three different playing elevations provided and The Quarry is known as “the Golfer’s Golf Course.”
The Quarry has over 300 members and has hosted several PGA legends including Arnold Palmer, Tiger Woods, Gary Player, and Payne Stewart. The course was also a favorite of former presidents like Gerald R. Ford and George H. W. Bush. Members also enjoy the 21,000 square foot clubhouse that encompasses luxury with wrought-iron fixtures, etched-glass partitions, and plank ceilings. High season at the club sees lots of social gatherings with gin and bridge games, hiking groups, and dinner parties at friends’ homes.
Estate lots with breathtaking views are available and range from 17,989 square feet to 12.4 acres. Schools that serve this community include Harry S. Truman Elementary, La Quinta Middle School, and La Quinta High School.
